I grew up in a family that was constantly struggling financially. Even though money was tight, I’ve always been into sports and loved staying active. I actually learned how to ride a bicycle entirely on my own when I was super young. Back then, I remember looking at my friends skating around the neighborhood on rollerblades and I wanted a pair so badly! But my parents just couldn’t afford it, it was way too expensive for us at the time. As years went by, I just stopped thinking about it. I grew up, got caught up in the adult routine and that childhood dream got buried somewhere deep in my memory. I honestly figured it was too late for me anyway.
But just a few days ago, my kid completely caught me off guard. He handed me huge box, looked me in the eyes and said: “I know how much you wanted these when you were kid, so let’s learn how to skate together”. I swear I got this huge lump in my throat and couldn’t even speak. It wasn’t just about getting a cool gift. My own child remembered a random, log forgotten dream of mine and brought it back to my life. It was the sweetest thing ever.
The very first day, we put on our knee and elbow pads (safety first), laced up the skates and went down to the yard. Honestly, we must have looked so ridiculous. There I was-terrified, shaking and completely lost and there was my kid-super serious, holding my hands, cheering me on and explaining exactly how to balance.

We wobbled a lot and almost fell a dozen times, laughing nonstop, but step by step, holding onto each other, we actually started skating on our own. This whole experience made me realize two thing, that you are never too old to chase a dream. It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you wanted something with all your heart, its never late to make it happen and family bonding is everything. These skates are not just a product anymore; they gave us a core memory that we’ll look back on forever.
Turns out, right now is the perfect time to unlock childhood dreams and start new adventures with your kids !
